Description

Fukamushi Sencha Moriki is a savory and full-bodied organic deep steamed green tea using the first tea harvest of the season. Fukamushicha is Shizuoka’s signature style of green tea and goes through a longer steaming process than a typical sencha. As a result, this enhances the natural sweetness of the brew with no astringency. Fukamushi Sencha Moriki is rich with umami and has a fragrant grassy aroma.

Fukamushicha is deep steamed green tea, in which the tea leaves are steamed for 120 seconds rather than 30-90 seconds. The tea leaves become soft from the longer steam time, and during the rolling process, the tips often break into smaller pieces. This sencha brews deep green with plenty of nutrients.

Fukamushi Sencha Brewing Instructions

  1. Heat fresh, filtered water until boiled.
  2. Pour water into cups to warm the cup and cool down the water. You can also use a yuzamashi water cooler.
  3. Pour water over tea leaves. Recommended water temperature for Fukamushicha is 176°F (80°C). The flavor will be lighter and sweeter when brewed at lower water temperatures such as 158°F (70°C). Try different brew times and temperatures to find your preference.
  4. Steep for 45 seconds. All of our teas can be steeped up to 3 times.

Fukamushi Sencha Cold Brew – Mizudashi (水出し) Instructions

Fukamushicha is especially refreshing when cold-brewed. Add 10g of tea leaves to 500 ml of cold water, and let it steep in the refrigerator for 3-4 hours. Cold-brewed Sencha can keep in the fridge for 2-3 days.

Origin: Shizuoka, Japan

As an avid black tea drinker who is trying to widen my tea collection, I found this tea to be a fantastic addition to my morning routine. This sencha is refreshing and full of umami. One cup gives me enough of a caffeine boost throughout the morning.
