This Hojicha roasted green tea powder is made from deeply roasted tencha that is finely grounded into hojicha tea powder. Since this is made from tencha, Hojicha Homura tea powder has an incredibly fragrant aroma and bold, full-bodied roasted flavor that is packed with nutrients.

Hojicha, also spelled as Houjicha, is a popular tea that’s excellent for digestion. In Japan, hojicha is especially favored by children and the elderly for its low caffeine content – a tea suitable for any time and anyone. Hojicha gets its low caffeine content from the high heat roasting process.

Hojicha Powder Preparation

  1. Add 1 teaspoon or 2 chashaku spoons of hojicha (~2g) into the chawan bowl. We recommend sifting the hojicha powder to remove any clumps.
  2. Pour 70ml (2.46fl oz) of hot water over the hojicha.
  3. Whisk the hojicha with a Chasen bamboo whisk until a rich foam covers the top.
  4. After whisking, drink immediately when the hojicha is fresh and covered with a foam top.
  5. For a Hojicha Latte, simply pour the freshly whisked Hojicha over a cup of hot or cold milk.
