This organic Hojicha roasted green tea is deeply pan-roasted for a bold aroma and savory flavor. The Hojicha carries a soothing sweet caramel note that lingers in your mouth.

Hojicha also spelled Houjicha, is a popular tea that’s excellent for digestion. In Japan, this tea is popular with young kids and the elderly for its low caffeine content. Low caffeine content is due to the tea leaves being roasted over high heat. This results in a light-bodied, brown liquor that has a soothing, earthy aroma.

Hojicha Steeping Instructions

  1. Heat fresh, filtered water until boiled.
  2. Pour water over tea leaves. Very hot water close to 203°F (95°C) is ideal for bringing out the fragrance and flavor in Hojicha.
  3. Steep for 1-2 minutes. All of our teas can be steeped up to 3 times.

Cold Hojicha Instructions

Simply add the desired amount of Hojicha tea leaves into a container or bottle and pour boiling water until the top. Let the tea steep and cool down before putting it in the fridge to chill. After 2-3 hours, the cold brew Hojicha is ready. Cold-brew tea lasts in the fridge for 2-3 days.

Origin: Shizuoka, Japan

The flavor is clean and fresh. Almost has a caramel like aroma to it. I like to brew this very bold. Smoky and rich with no bitterness.

This tea has a delicious smell similar to coffee. Has a very nutty and roasty taste.

I was looking for a low caffeine coffee alternative for that late afternoon. This hojicha has the rich flavor of a properly roasted tea.
