This Mugicha is named after trees, or itsuki (樹) for it’s earthy notes. Mugicha is made from roasted barley kernels and has a toasty aroma and nutty flavor. When chilled, mugicha is especially refreshing and hydrating on a hot and humid day. Mugicha barley tea is best when cold brewed, but can also also be enjoyed hot.

In fact, Mugicha barley tea is commonly drank throughout the spring and summer months in Japan. Since this herbal tea is caffeine-free with no calories, it’s a perfect tea to drink during any time of the day. Each tea bag conveniently makes 1 liter of tea, enough to share with friends and family.

Mugicha Cold Brew Steeping Instructions

  1. Pour 1 liter (1 quart) cold water over the packet of mugicha in a large pitcher.
  2. Steep in the fridge for 2 hours. Mugicha can be steeped up to 2 times.

For hot brew, simply pour hot water close to 203°F (95°C) over the mugicha and steep for 3-5 minutes. Keep or remove the tea bag, depending on your taste preference.
