Description

Konayuki Matcha is a ceremonial grade matcha green tea powder of pinnacle quality. Named after “powdered snow”, this high-grade Okumidori matcha is sophisticated and aromatic, delivering a deep, lingering umami with a creamy sweetness. Although this matcha is meant for koicha, or thick preparation of matcha, Konayuki can also be enjoyed as usucha for any matcha enthusiast.

Konayuki matcha is from the prestigious Uji prefecture in Kyoto, famous for producing the finest matcha. This refined matcha offers a vibrant emerald color, fresh aroma and plenty of umami, an excellent choice for chado students or matcha lovers looking to experience traditional high-grade matcha.

Matcha – Usucha Preparation

After whisking, drink immediately when the matcha is fresh and covered with a foam top.

  1. Pour freshly boiled water into a cup to cool down the water. You can also use a yuzamashi water cooler.
  2. Add 1 teaspoon or 2 chashaku spoons of matcha (~2g) into the chawan matcha bowl. We recommend sifting matcha to remove any clumps.
  3. Pour 70ml (2.46fl oz) of hot water over the matcha. Recommended water temperature for Matcha is 176°F (80°C).
  4. Whisk the matcha with a Chasen bamboo whisk until a rich foam covers the top.

Matcha – Koicha Preparation

Only high quality Matcha is suitable for Koicha.

  1. Add 2 teaspoons or 4 chashaku spoons of matcha (~4g) into the chawan matcha bowl. We recommend sifting matcha to remove any clumps.
  2. Pour 50ml (1.76fl oz) of hot water over the matcha. Recommended water temperature for Matcha is 176°F (80°C).
  3. Whisk the matcha lightly with a Chasen bamboo whisk. Unlike Usucha, Koicha will not get a rich foam on top.

Origin: Kyoto, Japan
