A traditional minoware kyusu teapot, featuring thick walls with a glazed inside and a built-in side strainer.

At a Glance

Inspired by its deep blue hues, this minoware kyusu teapot is named after the night sky. The colors especially glimmer on the glossy and smooth glass-like finish on this ceramic teapot. This teapot is a piece of traditional mino ware pottery, which has been produced in Japan for over 1,300 years.

The ceramic material maintains water temperature very well and ensures minimal temperature loss. As a result, the tea stays warm for a longer time. Additionally, the Yozora teapot features thick walls with a glazed inside and a built-in side strainer for easy cleaning. As such, this kyusu teapot accommodates brewing different types of teas without absorbing any particular smell or flavor.

    急須を使った緑茶の淹れ方

HOW TO PREPARE GREEN TEA USING KYUSU

    | Boil water and cool it to the right temperature in a yuzamashi or water cooling pitcher.

2 | Measure five (5) grams (1 teaspoon) for a kyusu with 200ml to 250ml of water. Then add to a dry and clean kyusu teapot.

3 | Slowly pour the cooled water into the kyusu, filling it about 90% full, leaving room at the top for cleaner decantation.

4 | Add the lid for the recommended infusion time, generally about one to two minutes for Japanese green tea

5 | Hold the kyusu, secure the lid with your thumb, and pour tea into cups, alternating between them 6-7 times to ensure each cup gets an equal amount. Pour out all the tea from the kyusu.
