A Matcha Bamboo Scoop (chashaku) is used to measure matcha green tea before whisking. The elegant curved shape of this bamboo scoop is handcrafted and specifically designed to cradle a single teaspoon of matcha powder, roughly 1 gram.
In fact, the shape of the scoop is made for easy use with a mesh strainer so that your matcha powder is clump-free before whisking with a matcha Bamboo Whisk (chasen). Simply measure your desired amount of matcha powder and add it to the mesh strainer. Then gently push the matcha through the mesh with the flat tip of the bamboo scoop until your matcha power separates and falls smoothly into the matcha bowl. Rinse and wipe dry after each use.
After use, wash with warm water and wipe dry. Soap is not necessary as this can leave odors. For quick spot cleaning, wipe with a wet towel.
