Ouka Sencha green tea is named after the cherry blossom flower petals that bloom at the beginning of Spring. Hence, this sencha green tea is light and crisp with a refreshing, grassy taste. This Asamushi Sencha comes from the predominant Yabukita cultivar in Japan. Since it’s lightly steamed, this sencha produces a light-bodied yellowish green liquor. 

Sencha Steeping Instructions

  1. Heat fresh, filtered water until boiled.
  2. Pour water in cups to warm the cup and cool down the water. You can also use a yuzamashi water cooler.
  3. Pour water over tea leaves. Recommended water temperature for Sencha is 176°F (80°C). The flavor will be lighter and sweeter at when brewed lower water temperatures such as 158°F (70°C). Try different brew times and temperatures to find your preference.
  4. Steep for 1-1.5 minutes. All of our teas can be steeped up to 3 times.

    It’s a pretty good Sencha, good for roughly 2 brews. Seems like the tea leaves are very particular with water temperature and steeping time when brewing. I like to drink it in the morning. Its slightly more astringent for my liking.
