I have been looking for buckwheat tea for awhile now. I have had it in a restaurant but never have been able to find a good tasting one. I have tried ones in the bag but they taste weak, no matter how long you steep. However, Senbird Tea is amazing. Very fresh tea and follow the instructions and you get an amazing scent and a rich flavor that lasts all the way to the bottom of the cup. I drink this daily now! Must order more soon! Thank you.

I was very curious about this brand and the type of tea, roasted buckwheat. This tea arrived on time and was packaged neatly. Today is my first day having this tea and I’m on my third cup. It’s nutty, fragrant, and full of flavor. I’m seriously enjoying it. If you’re a fan of roasted brown rice tea. This is very similar and yet different. No need for a tea bag or strainer as the granules end up on the bottom of the tea after it’s seeped. I can seriously have this all day and am happy with the outlining health benefits. I will definitely purchase more in the future.

  3. Kelly

I’ve been on the hunt for new and exciting herbal teas for when it’s past “coffee o’clock”, and given that the usual supermarket varieties such as chamomile, mint, licorice, and turmeric were getting a bit tired, I found myself looking for something new. Boy, did this deliver! The nutty flavor is reminiscent of the toasted rice in Genmaicha, and while I struggled to understand people saying it was refreshing (as a hot beverage), having tried it, I have to agree. I can’t speak directly to the health benefits from experience, but they’re certainly worth looking into for the curious. The only drawback I’d say right now is the price point, but this being 2021, I’m hoping that is largely due to global supply chain issues, so I’ll not hold that against anyone for the time being, particularly as I can’t say I’ve found another Japanese sourced Sobacha for less.

  4. Peter

This was my first purchase of Senbird tea. Their Soba tea has a delightful roasted, toasted flavor and it is a perfect caffeine-free alternative. Though the Amazon description (and the Senbird site) does not say if this is Tartary buckwheat, it is a good replacement for when my favorite Tartary / Dattan / だったん sobacha is unavailable. I will definitely purchase again. Additionally, the tea arrives in a tin and refills are available for purchase.

  5. Dorothy

There are cheaper options but you don’t get the quality that the Senbird organic soba tea delivers. The taste is smooth, rich, & nutty. I was on the hunt for good buckwheat/soba tea for my high cholesterol & I do believe I found the one! I’d rather drink this than bitter, caffeinated green tea. You can also eat the grains as a bonus. Some of the other ones on the market are not ingestible.

  6. Lauren

I recently hopped on the band wagon regarding the benefits of buckwheat tea. I wanted to get all the benefits the grains had to offer so I opted for loose roasted buckwheat rather than in a tea bag. I’m so glad I did because the taste is unbeatable. It’s a rich and nutty flavor that’s really warming and comforting. I definitely recommend this brand over other non-organic bagged varieties! It’s a must try!

  7. Cheryl

Like the taste of tea. Aroma is very refreshing. Feel like the tea is fresh (not old)!

  8. Jacqueline

I purchased SOBACHA tea, not realizing that the container contains only 100g. Sugested brewing is 8g per 8oz, that will make 12.5 cups of tea per container whis is about $2 per home brewed tea. I love the flavour but it is an expensive tea.

  9. Terry

    Only 100g. Too expensive

  10. Hannah

I have tried several organic buckwheat teas, and none of them come close to Senbird in terms of taste. An exceptional value and a great brand.

  11. Roger

I was looking for a robust non caffeinated tea for the afternoons and the Soba tea fits the bill. The flavor is just right as having tea in the afternoon is very relaxing.

  12. Keith

The flavor is authentic and fragrant. The packaging is very nice and sturdy. The tea itself tastes great!

  13. Christian

It was exactly what I was looking for.

  14. Andrea

Great flavor, love to sit down with a hot cup of tea and watch Netflix with some good snacks.

  15. Megan

We went to an amazing 16 course Japanese tasting dinner and I fell in love with the ($10/glass) buckwheat tea. I found this and it is the exact same! Toasty and warm!

  16. Jeremy

This tea is earthy and smooth. I really enjoy the nutty flavor. I have it hot and cold and it’s enjoyable either way. It’s become one of my favorites. 👍🏻

  17. Judith

Bought this product to help my husband improve his cholesterol and weight loss. It is too soon to tell if it works but I like the fact that it’s organic and the product did not come from China .

  18. Noah

Love this tea. The taste and scent is phenomenal.

  19. Evelyn

This tea is amazing in taste and calm inducing effect. At least a cup a day, usually more.

  20. Walter

Love this. I wish there was a way to get a refill bag without getting the tin all over again.

  21. Brandon

Great tea with a subtle taste, not overpowering flavor. I’m happy I discovered this, definitely one of my favorites!!

  22. Nicole

The packaging is really nice and simple. The tea itself is amazing quality. Perfect balance of nutty/sweet/earthy. I am definitely buying from this company again. Very impressed!!

  23. Scott

I enjoyed the taste is not overpowering, a very smooth taste and the aroma is pleasant. I feel very energetic. I drink this in the morning.

  24. Emma

I love this Soba Tea as it is beneficial for regulating my blood sugars. Very refreshing aroma! Cost is the only drawback for a small tea container.

  25. Victoria

    Very good tasting tea!

  26. Douglas

    Smells so good 😊

  27. Samuel

So unique and it is amazing as a topping on a yogurt , not just a tea ! I’m obsessed with this nutty , fresh aroma ❣️ Simply addicted

  28. Justin

My friend shared with me her obsession with Sobacha tea while we shared a kettle of tea at Nobu and I instantly became obsessed. Definitely like the taste on this one a little better! Highly recommend! 🙂

  29. Virginia

Loved the packaging and the flavor, also really like the medicinal properties.

  30. Joan

I had tried this tea at an Asian restaurant and really enjoyed it. So glad I found this! Now I can make it at home! Tastes so good!

  31. Henry

Would love this tea to be available in a larger more easily recyclable or compostable package!

  32. Tyler

It’s alittle pricey, but good quality organic soba tea.

  33. Helen

High quality tea – very delightful to drink. It is very easy to brew as well and can be brewed cold or hot.

  34. George

Great taste, lasts 2-3 steepings – if you like genmaicha or other roasted flavor teas, you’ll like the roasted buckwheat tea. Also great for making milk tea! A little pricey for me compared to other types of teas, but roasted buckwheat is hard to find (I tried going to several Asian stores previously and they did not have it).

  35. Ethan

I love this tea! I’m sick of all those flowery, fruity decaf options for tea. This drinks hearty and delicious like regular black tea, add a little sugar and cream and I’m set! I enjoy the tin it comes in, super convenient and a really good quality tea!

  36. Joyce

Very nice buckwheat tea. Toasty and nutty. As good as any that I had in Japan. Origin is Hokkaido.

  37. Pamela

So as tea, Senbird is great, tasty and comforting. But as ice cream topping, senbird is gonna blow your mind 🍦

  38. Christina

This tea is amazing. It’s nutty and slightly floral and no caffeine! So you can drink this at night and you’ll be able to sleep. Excellent quality for the price and you can even eat the kernels if you want to. Will buy again

  39. Heather

Everyday tea to enjoy. Flavor is good.

  40. Samantha

Great tasting soba tea. Had been on the lookout for some soba tea after going to some restaurants recently and this is great. It’s worth the price for the quality you get. Would definitely get again

  41. Nathan

Very good flavor soba tea. High quality. Good value. Will be buying again. Thank you.

  42. Jerry

I love this tea, it has a wonderfully fresh flavor and I love that it’s so good for you. The tin it comes in is perfect for keeping it fresh, def will order again 🙂

  43. Benjamin

Great flavor! One of the best sobacha that I’ve had!

  44. Kyle

We’ve been drinking buckwheat tea for more than a year and this is the best. The depth of flavor and robustness is top notch. I would definitely purchase again.

  45. Olivia

Great taste and well worth it

  46. Adam

This is the taste I look for. Will repurchase.

  47. Julie

Great quality and outstanding flavor that has a slightly sweet taste. The tea is also very automatic. The only downside is the overall price, which is pretty steep for the quantity.

  48. Diane

    Nice earthy flavor and comforting.

  49. Larry

The tea smells and taste so good!! It also helps me feel better after meal. Even my toddler loves the tea! Will definitely get it again.

  50. Jose

Very good quality soba tea in a good re-usable container.

  51. Aaron

This tastes amazing hot or cold. Definitely roasty, somewhat peanut butter taste. Extremely addictive: already went through four iced gallons of this stuff.

  52. Brenda

The taste is great, super clean and on the lighter side. I like the toasted smell too. Also love that they promote sustainability by encouraging you to order refill packets instead of new tins.

  53. Ruth

This tea is incredibly delicious. Being that it is sourced from Hokkaido, it is steeped in tradition, where farmers operating as small businesses have been producing soba (Japanese Buckwheat) for more than 100 years. Their dedication to the craft is expressed through the perfect flavor of this tea. It is an ultimate example of Japanese tea culture.

  54. Dennis

First time buying. You can smell a distinct aroma of buckwheat when you drop a bit into boiling water (little nutty and toasty). I think the quality matches its price. The packaging is a bit overdone for me, but it can be a good gift for someone who loves this tea. It is a “organic” tea certified by the Japanese organization.

  55. Jonathan

Beautiful packaging and amazing fragrance. for me, tea drinking is now the most pleasant meditation and enjoyment with this drink❤️

  56. Emily

Smells good, tastes good, healthy choice. Have been ordering this every month for 6 months now, will continue…

I had sobacha at a very expensive restaurant and liked it, and I can say this product is as good or better than what i had at the restaurant .

  58. Shirley

This is a very unique tea…the flavor is unlike anything else….nutty best describes it. It’s very smooth and calming! I only use 1/2T for 8oz cup and that is perfect for me, very light and cozy on these cold winter days.

  59. Maria

Really love this tea! It brews into a very beautiful color. As soon as I poured the water in the French press, it smelled just like it tastes—nutty and bready (yeasty?) It was delicious. And I like eating the kernels after brewing to get my whole grain fix. I also like how it’s caffeine free, so I can drink it whenever.

  60. Raymond

The flavor of this tea is entirely what I had anticipated. It is smooth and nutty. I’m hoping it assists on reducing my blood pressure, so as I have read. So far so good though in quality and flavor though

  61. Angela

This tea is very tasty and it is my favorite non-caffeinated tea. The quality is good although it is a bit pricey. But I think it is worth the price so I will be subscribing to the product!

  62. Patrick

New to this tea but I’m addicted! I find this tea incredibly delicious. The flavor is nutty and so refreshing. I find myself reaching for it frequently.

I go through a lot of tea, and this is one of my new favorites to brew. The taste is refreshing and strong and pairs well with snacks and desserts. Given it’s low caffeine, I also find it’s a great way to center myself before bed.

Bonus: the packaging comes in a solid tin, so I don’t have to worry about storage or the leaves maintaining their freshness.

  71. Kathleen

This tea is both fantastic in flavor and aroma. It is an incredible tool that I use for my daily health enjoyed every evening after dinner before bed. I notice I sleep better and my metabolism is enhanced by consuming Senbird Soba tea. You must try it to believe it!

I have been looking for this for a really long time. Every time I get tea at a Japanese restaurant I wonder what the delicious nutty ness is in the tea! It’s buckwheat ! Delicious. This product is really yummy and brews fast. I like to put it in my green tea or with my ginger lemon tea.

This buckwheat tea tastes exactly like the one served at a well-known Michelin star Japanese restaurant, but better because it’s organic, fresh (foil sealed), and easy to order with quick delivery. Tastes great served hot or add some ice cubes to have a refreshing cold drink in the summer. A great caffeine-free option.

  75. Jack

I wish it came with more, but it is delicious. I will be purchasing again

This is one of my favorite teas at Senbird. It has an appealingly roasty aroma and rich flavor that make it a perfect year-round beverage. I have brewed it and chilled it to drink cold during the summer over ice, and love it the rest of the year steaming hot in late afternoon and evening. When you open the package, you’ll notice immediately the appealingly toasty smell of the buckwheat. I’ve purchased sobacha from other sellers, but Harney & Sons has the very best.

If you’ve ever eaten buckwheat noodles, you may be familiar with its strong, nutty and savory flavor. This tea has that flavor. This tea is also perfect on its own, so you won’t feel obligated to pair it with anything.
