At a Glance
Handcrafted from wild cherry bark, this traditional Japanese tea canister (chazutsu) is made using time-honored techniques passed down through generations of artisans. Each piece uses bark carefully selected from trees that have withstood years of snow and wind, harvested with eco-conscious methods that allow the trees to regrow.
Sheets of cherry bark are wrapped around a wooden core and sealed with a heated metal trowel, creating a beautifully smooth, airtight vessel. Naturally antibacterial and moisture-regulating, the cherry wood helps preserve the flavor and freshness of premium loose leaf tea by maintaining ideal humidity.
Because each chazutsu is handmade, no two are exactly alike—every piece is a unique reflection of natural materials and craftsmanship. The Kurumi (胡桃) finish, named after the Japanese word for walnut, features a soft, natural light walnut tone that adds quiet sophistication and earthy warmth to your tea ritual. More than just storage, it is a timeless expression of Japanese craftsmanship, made for both beauty and utility.

鉄瓶を使った煎茶の淹れ方
HOW TO BREW SENCHA WITH A TETSUBIN
Step 1 Fill tetsubin with fresh, filtered water. Place directly on the stove to boil.
Step 2 Pour water into cups to warm the cup and cool down the water. You can also use a yuzamashi water cooler.
Step 3 Pour water over tea leaves. Recommended water temperature for this Sencha is 176°F (80°C). It typically takes 1 minute to cool to ideal temperature. The flavor will be lighter and sweeter when brewed at lower water temperatures such as 158°F (70°C). Try different brew times and temperatures to find your preference.
Step 4 Steep for 1-2 minutes. All of our teas can be steeped up to 3 times.

Handcrafted in Akita, Japan through the traditional art of Kabazaiku, each piece is shaped from natural sakura cherry bark, making every scoop and canister one of a kind. Smooth to the touch and rich in character, it brings warmth, beauty, and purpose to the way you store, measure, and enjoy loose leaf tea.
Very light weight tea canister and perfect size for my loose teas. I bought a second one for when I pre-grind coffee beans. Always keeps them so fresh!
