Description

This Genmai  Tea is a blend of roasted brown rice green tea with matcha from Kyoto. This fragrant genmaicha has a toasty aroma and a refreshing taste with a hint of sweetness from the rice.

Genmai Matcha Suzu is made with sencha green tea and Japanese rice that has been soaked in water and then deeply roasted to create toasted rice. Often, some rice pop open during the roasting process, hence the white pieces in the tea that look similar to popcorn.

Genmaicha Steeping Instructions

  1. Heat fresh, filtered water until boiled.
  2. Pour water in cups to warm the cup and cool down the water. You can also use a yuzamashi water cooler. Recommended water temperature for this Sencha Genmaicha is 180°F (82°C). Try different brew times and temperatures to find your preference.
  3. Pour water over tea leaves.
  4. Steep for 1-1.5 minutes. This tea can be steeped up to 3 times.

Origin: Kyoto, Japan

We really like Genmacha (Genmaicha) tea for the toasted rice flavor. This is a good choice and something of a bargain when price shopping. The tin a right-sized tin that looks amazing on the counter and provides a good seal to keep flavor in. Flavor-wise, it has that toasted rice flavor, but the green tea seemed a tad overpowering. Would I order it again? Sure. Is it my favorite? No. I’m sure this is a personal preference, and the tea is good.

I love genmaicha and this one tastes especially fantastic because of the matcha. Great addition to my tea collection.

Wonderfully unique tea genmaicha. I usually don’t care for green tea because it has little flavor, but this one is toasty goodness
