This Okumidori Matcha is from the prestigious Uji region in Kyoto, famous for producing the finest matcha. Matcha Otome is excellent as is or in drinks, such as matcha lattes, smoothies, and cocktails.

Matcha is especially popular for its impressive health benefits. Due to the sweet lingering taste, Matcha is commonly used in food and baking recipes as well. Produced from tencha shaded green tea, matcha is naturally high in caffeine and an excellent energy booster.

Matcha – Usucha Preparation

After whisking, drink immediately when the matcha is fresh and covered with a foam top.

  1. Pour freshly boiled water into a cup to cool down the water. You can also use a yuzamashi water cooler.
  2. Add 1 teaspoon or 2 chashaku spoons of matcha (~2g) into the chawan matcha bowl. We recommend sifting matcha to remove any clumps.
  3. Pour 70ml (2.46fl oz) of hot water over the matcha. Recommended water temperature for Matcha is 176°F (80°C).
  4. Whisk the matcha with a Chasen bamboo whisk until a rich foam covers the top.

Matcha – Koicha Preparation

Only high-quality Matcha is suitable for Koicha.

  1. Add 2 teaspoons or 4 chashaku spoons of matcha (~4g) into the chawan matcha bowl. We recommend sifting matcha to remove any clumps.
  2. Pour 50ml (1.76fl oz) of hot water over the matcha. Recommended water temperature for Matcha is 176°F (80°C).
  3. Whisk the matcha lightly with a Chasen bamboo whisk. Unlike Usucha, Koicha will not get a rich foam on top.

I’ve been on a mission for a LONG time to find the best matcha tea to replace my morning coffee routine and this is it!

I totally fell in love with the bright, vibrant green color and the sweet, earthy fragrance from the matcha. The flavor is rich – sweet and nutty, and there’s such a great depth to it. I like to just drink it on it’s own, sometimes I make it as a matcha latte. But honestly, it already tastes great on it’s own, nothing else needed!

I’ve been drinking this matcha for over a year now. Since switching from coffee to matcha, I felt more energized and totally healed my coffee headache and less stomach pain from the acid of coffee. I’m serious – I can feel my body is healing from the tea!

So far, I’ve used it in my matcha lattes, baked treats and by itself. This matcha is absolutely delicious with a bright, vegetal flavor and rich green color. And there is NO bitter aftertaste, as I’ve experienced with other brands in the past. I will definitely buy again!

THIS IS IT! I don’t know much about matcha but since I really love their hojicha I gave it a shot! And now I’m so in love w this favor! Not only it tastes good, but also boost my energy. Really easy to drink and tastes good. I sip on it every morning over ice with oat milk.

I’ve been saying that matchas either dissolve well or don’t, which is the wrong word. Blended is a better word, since I don’t think you’ll ever escape having a little powder at the bottom of your cup. This blended OK, maybe it was more my fault than the matcha’s. It is a little more bitter than another I recently tried, but not overly so. It comes in a nice tin, which the company urges you to reuse by offering discounts on just buying more matcha packets for it, rather than the matcha tin each time (unless you want a collection lol). The packaging itself wasn’t super easy to open; you’ll probably have to use scissors if you want it neat.

I have been looking for a quality matcha powder to use in baking and craft cocktails. Most of the matcha I had used before was really starting to break the bank, so I when I was referred to Senbird by a colleague, I was thoroughly surprised and impressed to find such a high-quality product that lives up to the ceremonial grade rating without breaking the bank. I almost felt bad using it to make just bread rolls! The powder was extremely easy to blend and I could smell the freshness the moment I cracked open the pouch. As some of the other reviews mention, the taste profile is a bit bitter, but as someone who is a fan of bitter taste profiles, it worked really well for me, especially since I have been using in baking primarily. Whether you are matcha addict or a newcomer, I recommend giving Senbird a try.

During the pandemic, I started drinking more matcha because I noticed that coffee was starting to make me anxious and clench my teeth. I always stick with ceremonial grade and Senbird’s is great!

Love the packaging, it came wrapped as to prevent damaging the tin. I love drinking tea in the morning and this green tea powder definitely satisfies my craving; love the richness in taste and highly recommend for all green tea lovers!

Blended really well, amazing taste—not too bitter but strong enough, beautiful green color. I was highly impressed! I also really like that I can refill the tin and reduce my footprint. Thank you!

Was looking for different ways of sprucing up my mornings and came across this matcha powder. Quality was surprisingly good and was able take some pretty matcha lattes! Definitely recommend giving it a try, they also give discounts if you reuse the canisters!

All products from Senbird come in very attractive yet convenient packaging. The product is seal and fresh upon opening. I tried the Matcha power with hesitantly at first because I was expecting a strong bitter grassy taste but it wasn’t. The taste wasn’t overly powerful; it was calm and smooth. The color was brilliant emerald green. I put a dab of honey in my teacup and that was perfection for me. We then used a teaspoon of the power in a smoothie blended with kale, spinach, and strawberry. Perfect. It blends nicely and you get all the nutritional benefits of Matcha in your smoothie if you like. Hot or cold; this is a good tea.

I drink lots of coffee and lots of tea so this is right up my ally. I started drinking matcha teas about a year ago and have enjoyed them so far. They can get pricey, this one fits right into the middle price point of what I see for ceremonial grade matcha teas.

I’ve noticed this one is a bit more difficult to whisk up than a few pricer ones I’ve had in the past. A pro-tip is to use a small electric milk frother, that really helps blending the tea powder into a nice beverage.

I notice a tiny bit of bitterness and the end of each sip but it’s not overly powerful. This makes a nice beverage to serve along with sushi as well.

This organic matcha powder mixes well in cold or hot water. The taste is smooth, earthy and so pleasing. The color is a beautiful green. Drink it in a clear glass/cup if you can.

I’ve had the great fortune of being able to Japan frequently and this matcha is by far one of our favorites. You won’t be disappointed. Enjoy.

I had not purchased Matcha tea very often before getting this variety. Usually, the ones I had were more of a lower-end quality. So I wanted to get this tea to see if a higher-end quality really made a difference in taste. I have to say that I love this tea, I love the rich color and the wonderful smooth taste. It makes me look forward to breakfast even more than I usually do.

I ran out of my usual matcha and saw this brand recommended by someone on social media. I know, I know, these people are paid to promote the items but it takes the guessing game out of finding something new and why not at least try it? Well I’m glad I did! This matcha is so tasty and lasted me three weeks (I put about 1.5 teaspoons in lattes every morning). I like the canister and the idea of receiving a discount once if you reuse it when ordering again. My only thing is that it didn’t blend as well as my other matcha, and I use an electric hand whisk. I also don’t sift the matcha first so maybe that makes the difference? Either way, it’s a great replacement when I don’t have my usual brand and I will buy again!

I’ve used a lot of different matcha powders in the past (I do a lot of baking with them) and love the flavor of matcha, but none of the ones that I’ve used before come close to the quality of this matcha. When I first opened the packet I was immediately hit by the sweet, earthy fragrance of the matcha and fell in love with the bright, vibrant green color of it. This is ceremonial matcha at it’s finest. The flavor is rich, it’s sweet and almost nutty, and there’s such great depth to it. I honestly felt kind of bad baking with this matcha just because of how high quality it is, so I’d definitely recommend drinking it instead in order to properly appreciate all of the subtle notes there.

I’ve been on a mission for almost 2 years to find the best tasting matcha tea and this is it. I’ve tried all different brands, (always sticking to ceremonial quality) and I haven’t found any that taste better than this. From the nice bright color, the finely ground consistency that’s less clumpy than other brands, to the fresh, crisp, clean taste, you can’t do any better than this one. It is a little pricey compared to other brands, but it’s organic and it’s definitely worth it. I usually drink mine with a little honey, but the flavor of this one is nice enough that it also tastes great on it’s own. Love this tea!!

I bought this because I couldn’t find a matcha latte when most places were closed during COVID-19. I’m really glad I did! It’s a really delicious matcha tea! I drink it as a latte, and I can taste the rich earthiness. I don’t have to go out for my latte now

I’m a matcha snob, I’ve tried it all from every coffee shop and online store. I discovered Senbird in NY and I’ll never go back. It’s ceremonial grade so naturally sweet, smooth and also has a little bite. VERY green in color which means high quality. I LOVE how it comes in the beautiful tin — this is hard to find with matcha and I drink a lot of it so it’s a great value for the size and quality you get. I froth it up in an electronic milk frother with a little water to heat it, followed by frothed oat milk and it’s the perfect hot drink.

Every once in a while you will stumble across a product such as this that makes eager to share with others. Although I hate to be taken in by beautiful packaging, since it can distract from the quality of the product inside, I have to admit these powdered green teas are amazing. I bought a bunch, and used it for teacher gifts and for hostess gifts where a bottle of wine wouldn’t necessarily be appropriate.

We’ve been using Otome for a year now at our cafe in San Francisco Bay Area. Excellent quality, really potent and smooth to use as a latte base, stand-alone or matcha based products. Very well received by our customers!

It gets me going in the morning but without any of the jitterness like from coffee. It has a strong rich flavor. The benefits are amazing. I have replaced this with my morning coffee which is rare because usually if I don’t have coffee then I get a major headache. It has been a joy drinking this. I make a matcha latte. It tastes divine! It tastes like I’m cheating with a lot of calories but you’re not.
