Otome Matcha is a ceremonial grade green tea powder that has a fresh aroma and tastes slightly astringent with rich, savory notes of sweet grass. This Okumidori Matcha is from the prestigious Uji region in Kyoto, famous for producing the finest matcha. Otome Matcha is excellent as is or in drinks, such as matcha lattes, smoothies and cocktails.

Matcha is especially popular for its impressive health benefits. Due to the sweet lingering taste, Matcha is commonly used in food and baking recipes as well. Produced from tencha shaded green tea, matcha is naturally high in caffeine and an excellent energy booster.

Matcha – Usucha Preparation

After whisking, drink immediately when the matcha is fresh and covered with a foam top.

  1. Pour freshly boiled water into a cup to cool down the water. You can also use a yuzamashi water cooler.
  2. Add 1 teaspoon or 2 chashaku spoons of matcha (~2g) into the chawan matcha bowl. We recommend sifting matcha to remove any clumps.
  3. Pour 70ml (2.46fl oz) of hot water over the matcha. Recommended water temperature for Matcha is 176°F (80°C).
  4. Whisk the matcha with a Chasen bamboo whisk until a rich foam covers the top.

    I love this matcha as it is so vibrant and very smooth, it makes a delicious and creamy matcha latte and the tin keeps the powder very fresh. The best range of matcha I have tried!

    It gets me going in the morning but without any of the jitterness like from coffee. It has a strong rich flavor. The benefits are amazing. I have replaced this with my morning coffee which is rare because usually if I don’t have coffee then I get a major headache. It has been a joy drinking this. I make a matcha latte. It tastes divine! It tastes like I’m cheating with a lot of calories but you’re not.
