First the feeling of being gripped by inspiration, then a steady buzz of energy that doesn’t feel overwhelming, ending with a slow come down into a calm state. – [ ] I love the well rounded deep herbal taste, that isn’t “too grassy” for pickier friends. I notice a more floral note to this hime sencha than other types I’ve tried. This is a great quality sencha, and the added matcha makes it a gem! I made tea bags with the loose leaf, using about 3tbs per 16oz of water. Honey, mint leaves, and lemon are my favorite additions. The tin is wonderful and I’m excited to reuse and refill it with more awesome Senbird tea!

I had never seen a tea really remind me of a fresh-mowed lawn, but that is exactly what this tea reminds of me when you open it. Fresh springtime. For those who know about how Sencha is harvested, it says a lot about the business and how they take steps to keep that flavor locked in from harvest to your teacup. Even more so, their airtight tins are super cool, keep everything fresh even after opening the package inside, and the scent and flavor don’t tarnish over time like with most brands you buy. The leaves you get with this tin stay flavorful and when you make a cup with them you really just have to stop yourself from making cup after cup.
A few things I noticed after drinking the tea is that there is no overpowering aftertaste like some of the bitter leaves you can buy in the store. Furthermore, I noticed that during this allergy season, it helped keep me from having to deal with a runny nose more often than not. Matcha has been proven to fix that issue as well, but its good to see tea you can really see the health benefits of. That is how you know its natural and not sprayed with a bunch of chemicals. The flavor is there but only there long enough to enjoy it and not leave a bad taste in your mouth that makes you feel like you need to brush your teeth or rinse your mouth out. (As is the case with cheap green tea) These tea leaves shout quality and I even respect the fact that the business goes out of their way to reuse their tins as part of the recycle effort.
I would highly recommend this product to anyone who has not had real Japanese Sencha.

Then when I used a strainer, some of the tea leaves came out in the water and were a bright green and looked very fresh.
