A chazutsu tea canister handmade from cherry blossom tree bark. Absorbs moisture and fights bacterial growth.
At a Glance
Handmade from the bark of cherry blossom trees, this Tea Canister or chazutsu uses only selected bark from trees that have endured strong winds and snow. The artisans use eco-friendly traditional methods to gather the bark, ensuring that the wood will grow back even after harvesting. Sheets of cherry bark are wrapped around a wooden mold, and then ironed together with a heated metal trowel. As a result, this produces an air tight and light, yet firm tea canister.
The cherry wood absorbs moisture, fights bacterial growth, and preserves the freshness of your tea by maintaining the ideal humidity level. Lightweight but durable, a perfect tea canister for holding your favorite premium tea leaves.

HOW TO BREW SENCHA WITH A TETSUBIN
Step 1 Fill tetsubin with fresh, filtered water. Place directly on the stove to boil.
Step 2 Pour water into cups to warm the cup and cool down the water. You can also use a yuzamashi water cooler.
Step 3 Pour water over tea leaves. Recommended water temperature for this Sencha is 176°F (80°C). It typically takes 1 minute to cool to ideal temperature. The flavor will be lighter and sweeter when brewed at lower water temperatures such as 158°F (70°C). Try different brew times and temperatures to find your preference.
Step 4 Steep for 1-2 minutes. All of our teas can be steeped up to 3 times.
