Origin

Crafted in Iwate, Japan, by artisans with 900 years of ironwork tradition, this Tetsubin kettle is a masterpiece of Japanese craftsmanship. Integral to the tea ceremony (chanoyu), it begins with a hand-drawn design and a hand-carved gypsum prototype used to create the mold. Molten iron is then carefully poured at 2,800°F, and the kettle is hand-carved and refined into its smooth final form.

鉄瓶を使った煎茶の淹れ方

HOW TO BREW SENCHA WITH A TETSUBIN

Step 1 Fill tetsubin with fresh, filtered water. Place directly on the stove to boil.

Step 2 Pour water into cups to warm the cup and cool down the water. You can also use a yuzamashi water cooler.

Step 3 Pour water over tea leaves. Recommended water temperature for this Sencha is 176°F (80°C). It typically takes 1 minute to cool to ideal temperature. The flavor will be lighter and sweeter when brewed at lower water temperatures such as 158°F (70°C). Try different brew times and temperatures to find your preference.

Step 4 Steep for 1-2 minutes. All of our teas can be steeped up to 3 times.
